Day books and ledger of John Swift, a merchant at Bayou Sara, West Feliciana Parish, La. The ledgers contain records of sales of paper, spices, indigo, candles, meat and other food items, nails, various articles of clothing, and other assorted dry goods to area citizens, passing steamboats, and local plantations. Entries show prices of purchases and names of buyers.
